Florence grew up in a home with an Italian atmosphere, so she became interested in being part of the Italian community such as the Columbus Day Committee, A.C.I.M, Sons of Italy and others.
Her longest association is with the Marchegiana Society, where a group of members and friends met and started the Italian American Historical Society of CT.
She served on the Board of Directors of the Ethnic Heritage Center and travels extensively.
