Louise Cedro

Louise attended Commercial High School and went to work right after graduation. As an only child, she felt it her duty to assist her hard working, immigrant parents.

Her first job was at Standard & Poors in Orange, followed by a long and interrupted career (children) as a secretary in Winchester/Olin Corp. During the war years in R&D and later in the Public Affairs Department. Louise has been involved with the West End Boys and Girl Scout groups and local and state PTA’s during her parental years.

In 1971, she joined the City of New Haven, serving first as secretary assisting the startup of the City’s new Office of Economic Development which included the Development Commission and its ancillary corporations. The function of the department was to encourage new development in the city and to assist the small business community in its expansion efforts with resources provided by the city and SBA.

The last 2 1/2 years with the city were as an assistant to the Executive Assistant to the Mayor. Louise, who was devoted to the City of New Haven, retired in 1989. She resides in Clinton with her husband of 65 plus years, Vito Cedro. They are the proud parents of 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. They are faithful parishioners of St. Anthony’s Church.

In 1972, Louise and Vito visited Italy for the first time as adults and instantly fell in love with it and are totally uncontrollable Italophiles.
