Lawrence Pisani

Professor Lawrence F. Pisani received his B.A. and Ph. D. degrees from Yale University. His current academic status is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Southern Connecticut State University.

Dr. Pisani is the author of The Italian in America and has written many articles for scholarly journals. His occasional essays, largely relating to the Italian American community, have appeared on the editorial pages of local newspapers. Active with the Boy Scouts of America for over 75 years, he has been awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest Council Scouter recognition.

He has also received the St. George Medal, the National Catholic Scouter award. Dr. Pisani has been honored by the New Haven Boys & Girls Club Alumni with the Gold Ring Award. Other recognitions include the Community Service Award of the American Committee on Italian Migration and the Charles Carroll of Carrollton Award by the Knights of Columbus.

The Italian American Historical Society of Connecticut has also conferred distinction on Dr. Pisani as Past President.
