The Italian-American Historical Society of Connecticut
Our Mission:
To embrace and preserve the history of our immigrant ancestors. This will allow future generations to more fully understand and appreciate past efforts and sacrifices which made it possible for us to be where we are today.
Founded as the Italian-American Historical Society of Greater New Haven, Inc. on June 15, 1979, its purpose as a society was to celebrate and perpetuate the concept of the Italian heritage in America.
The society is now known as the Italian-American Historical Society of Connecticut.
It recognizes the accomplishments and the history of Italian Americans through the preservation of documents, artifacts, photographs, and videotaped oral histories.
The public is welcomed to visit our exhibits and library in the Ethnic Heritage Center at Southern Connecticut State University located at 270 Fitch Street, New Haven, CT 06515.
