2020 La Befana & Tombolo

When: January 5, 2020 at 2 p.m.
Where: Ethnic Heritage Center, 270 Fitch Street, New Haven, CT
By: La Befana Herself

Come to celebrate La Befana, giver of gifts at Epiphany, in the Italian Tradition. This beloved and kind witch brings gifts to all the children aboard her magic flying broom on Epiphany.
In anticipation of her visit, Italian children often recite verses dedicated to the visiting witch. One of the most popular is:
La Befana vien di notte – Con le scarpe tutte rotte – Con le toppe alla sottana – Viva, viva la Befana!
(La Befana comes in the night – With shoes completely broken – With her skirt all in tatters – Hurray, Hurray, La Befana!)
We will also play the popular Italian game, Tombola, which is like bingo. This lively game is typically played from Christmas Eve (while awaiting midnight Mass) through Epiphany (while awaiting La Befana).
This is a free, family friendly event with plenty of free parking next to the building.
